Flowering Fimo

Fimo Nail Art

It is actually beginning to seem like spring around here.  Trees are budding and grass is greening up.  I wanted something bright and springy for this week, so I pulled out one of my faves.

Fresh Paint and Fimo Flowers

This was an easy look with so little involved.  Aside from base and top coat, these are the only supplies I needed.

Fresh Paint Guava

I used two coats of Fresh Paint Guava.  I wish that the pictures showed how vibrant it is in reality.  It is like a neon pastel, and is one of my favorite polishes that I have.

I top coated the polish and while it was wet I tacked on the fimo flowers in the corners of my big toes.

Fimo Nail Art Slices

I used the white flowers in the top wheel, and the yellow flowers and green outlined flowers in the bottom wheel.  I decided not to top coat over the fimo slices.  When I have in the past, it curls them up on the edges.  So far, they have stuck on just fine and are staying much flatter than usual.

Spring Nail Art

I think the bright color and simple flower touch makes this a casual spring look that goes with anything.

Do you use fimo?  Do you top coat over it?  If you do and it doesn’t curl, please tell me your secret.  😉

Loving Water Decals

Spring Pedi

I haven’t been able to make a post all week, so here is a quick one to show what has been on my toes this week.  (And the weather has been worthy of sandals!)

Zoya Monet

To do this I began with two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure I Lilac You.  Then, on the big toes I used water decals of flowers.  I am really into these water decals right now because they are so easy and add a nice design without much effort.  Then I topped it off with some Zoya Monet, which is a nice spring glitter.  The purple and glitter went well together and made a nice spring look!

Nothing to Lose

I typically do my nails in the evening, since that is the only time I have.  It works out, because then they can cure overnight and I can go about my business.  My intention this weekend was to start with a lovely pale blue and do some stamping over it.  (We all know for stamping, you need those nails to be dry.)  But ugh!  When I woke up this morning I realized that I went to bed with my nails a bit too wet because they were full of these creases and indents from the blankets.

Tacky Polish

I went from having this nice smooth finish to this.  I didn’t want to stamp over it, so I figured I had nothing to lose.  Since it was already a mess, why not try something more “daring” than I normally would?  Worst case…take it off and start over.

Zoya and Sinful Colors

The blue polish that I used was Zoya Rebel.  It took two coats to be opaque.  It is a light blue polish with a silvery gold shimmer.    Then, I decided to top off the messed up blue coat with Sinful Colors Love Sprinkles.  I did not put on any of the hearts.  I only wanted the white and pink polka dots.

Nail Art Wheel

Next, the part where I went a little wild.  🙂  I have this random nail art wheel that I dug little flowers out of.  I wasn’t particular about colors.  I just thought with things finally starting to sprout for spring, the baby blue and pink dots would be springy with multiple colors of flowers.

3D Nail Art

Easy Nail Art

And that is what I ended up with!  Some 3D nail art that is colorful and fun.  I am not sure how practical it is or how long it will stay on my nails, but for now it’s fun to be blinged out.  And, with so much going visually, those creases are a thing of the past.

How have you fixed blunders?

Easter Spots

Easter Nail Art

Tomorrow is Easter, so I did my nails in some fun spring colors.  Please excuse and remaining sloppy edges, since I wanted to get some pics in the daylight.  🙂

Pastel Polish

I did each nail in a different spring shade.  From left to right I used: Sally Girl Simple, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Breezy Blue, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Tickled Pink, and Fresh Paint Honeydew.  Since all of these are light colors, I needed about three coats of each to feel good about them.

Polka Dots

I topped off all of the nails with a coat of Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Clearly Spotted.  This polish is made of of different sizes of black and white dots, and I wish I had another bottle, because I can’t find it anywhere now.

Robin Egg Nails

I thought these colors looked really fun together, and they will make a cute look for Easter.  The remind of me the Robin Egg candies.

This was easy, quick, colorful, and perfect for a sunny day!  And, it will match whatever I pull out of my closet.  🙂

Spring Birds

Spring Mani

So, you are about to see a ton of pictures because I really liked how this turned out.  I knew I wanted something springy, and before I knew it, this came to life.  I have pictures in different light to try to show how neat the polish looks, especially the orange nails.

Butter London

These are the polishes that I used for this mani.

Orange Nail Polish

The oranges are Sally Hansen Satin Glam Sun Sheen and Zoya Alma.  I put down one coat of the satin and then went over it with a thick coat of the Zoya.  I could have used the Zoya on its own, but that would have taken quite a few coats since it is so sheer.  The satin underneath sped the process up and actually looked pretty good.

Green Nail Polish

The greens were Sally Hansen Triple Shine Scale Up and Butter London Wellies.  I used the Butter for the accent nail, and because the other nails were so sparkly, I put a touch of the Triple Shine over it to give it some spice.

Water Nail Decals

These are the backs of the water decals that I used for the birds.  (a little blurry)  I liked how these were printed on the back so it wasn’t a guessing game when I tried to place them.  I think they are a perfect spring decal, and went with the green polish nicely.

Now….for an overload of pictures!

Is nail art supposed to face others or you?  I always make it face me, since I like to look at it.  Does it really matter?  🙂

Spring In My Step

Spring Pedicure

I am living in a place where it is sixty degrees one day and thirty the next, so I guess I thought that some spring-ish toes would help inspire the weather to be more consistent.

Sally Hansen Tickled Pink

For this I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Tickled Pink.  This is a beautiful light pink that needed about three coats to look completely opaque.  Then, I wanted to try out some new nail stickers I had ordered off of eBay.  (If you aren’t using eBay to get your nail art stuff, you should be.  You need to be willing to wait on free shipping, but a $2 shopping spree will get you loads of things.  I got ten sheets of nail stickers for 11 cents.)

I am not going to say that I love or hate the nail stickers.  I am wondering if I should have waited for the pink to be way dry before I applied them.  Can you see how they are up on the edges a bit?

Nail Stickers

I want to give them a couple more tries because they peeled off of the sheet easily and are cute.  So far, after a few days of wear, they are still on there, just have those edges that I would rather be flat.

Overall, I really like the pink and still see potential in the stickers, so will give them another go some other time.

Here’s to hoping Spring weather comes in time for Easter!
