Halloween Oops

Glowing Water Marble

I was going for what I thought was going to be a sweet Halloween water marble, and the base for some Halloween decals.  I didn’t exactly get what I had in mind, but I got a cute design for the week.

OPI Chrome

I painted all of my nails with this chrome base from OPI called Push and Shove.  It truly is chrome when it dries.  You can see your reflection in it.  But it is VERY finicky when it comes to getting it applied.  You want only one, smooth coat the first time.  Anytime you go back over it, it bubbles it up.

China Glaze Water Marble

I chose these three China Glaze polishes, and I was picturing them staying these shades for the Halloween color combo.  From left to right: In the Lime Light, Purple Panic, Pool Party.

China Glaze Pool Party

When I marbled it, it looked a little more like a neon type of thing than Halloween.

Sinful Colors Glow in the Dark

Rather than use the Halloween decals on a look that didn’t match that, I topped it off with Sinful Colors Glow in the Dark, and a matte top coat.

Glowing Water Marble

I finished with a fun look, and was surprised by the fact that I could still see the colors of the polish under the glow polish.  I really though that that would just be a top layer once the lights were out, and the other colors wouldn’t stand out.

Hopefully a Halloween look works for me this week, and I hope your Halloween nails are coming together!  The ones I have seen have been gorgeous!

Nothing to Lose

I typically do my nails in the evening, since that is the only time I have.  It works out, because then they can cure overnight and I can go about my business.  My intention this weekend was to start with a lovely pale blue and do some stamping over it.  (We all know for stamping, you need those nails to be dry.)  But ugh!  When I woke up this morning I realized that I went to bed with my nails a bit too wet because they were full of these creases and indents from the blankets.

Tacky Polish

I went from having this nice smooth finish to this.  I didn’t want to stamp over it, so I figured I had nothing to lose.  Since it was already a mess, why not try something more “daring” than I normally would?  Worst case…take it off and start over.

Zoya and Sinful Colors

The blue polish that I used was Zoya Rebel.  It took two coats to be opaque.  It is a light blue polish with a silvery gold shimmer.    Then, I decided to top off the messed up blue coat with Sinful Colors Love Sprinkles.  I did not put on any of the hearts.  I only wanted the white and pink polka dots.

Nail Art Wheel

Next, the part where I went a little wild.  🙂  I have this random nail art wheel that I dug little flowers out of.  I wasn’t particular about colors.  I just thought with things finally starting to sprout for spring, the baby blue and pink dots would be springy with multiple colors of flowers.

3D Nail Art

Easy Nail Art

And that is what I ended up with!  Some 3D nail art that is colorful and fun.  I am not sure how practical it is or how long it will stay on my nails, but for now it’s fun to be blinged out.  And, with so much going visually, those creases are a thing of the past.

How have you fixed blunders?

My Collection – The Pinks

Pink Nail Polish

The Pinks

Pink Nail Polish

The Pinks

Here are my pink polishes.  To be honest, I am a little surprised at how much I have that falls in the pink category, because I don’t think of myself as a pink person.  But, a lot of them are on the coral side, and I do like that shade, especially in the summer.  🙂  Here we go!

Color Club Halo-Graphic

First is Color Club Halo-Graphic, which is a holo polish that I love.  It isn’t exactly opaque in one coat, but the shine makes it seem like it is plenty if you are in a hurry.  Other wise, two coats is perfect!

Mary Kay Lava

Next up is Mary Kay Lava.  This polish can look pink, orange, yellow, and a little red, depending on the lighting.  It falls in the pink category though because for the most part, that is what you’ll see.  It goes on easily in two coats and is such a fun color!

Xtreme Wear Strobe Light

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Strobe Light is one of my all time favorites!  It can be used on its own as a glittery wonder, or as a topper.  It is pink and holographic glitter, and the way it shines would stop traffic.  I highly recommend it!

Satin Glam Chic Pink

This next pink polish is Sally Hansen Satin Glam Chic Pink.  It needs about three coats to be all the way opaque.  On its own, it does dry to a beautiful satin finish.  If sealed with a top coat, it looks glittery.  I have not tried a matte top coat with it though to see if that keeps the satin look or not.

Diamond Strength Pulled Sugar

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Pulled Sugar is an extremely delicate looking polish.  I typically use it as a topper, but can be sheer and beautiful on its own.  It is a very baby pink with sparkles in it, and makes it match any look all year round.

Xtreme Wear Fruit Ta Ta

This next polish is a jelly with white, black, pink, and red hex glitters in it.  It is a little tricky to get the pieces spread evenly, but it a cute topper for lots of looks.  (Especially at Valentine’s Day.)

Xtreme Wear Coral Reef

This one looks a little orangey in the picture, but it is more of a coral color.  It is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Coral Reef.  While this is beautiful to paint your nails with, I really like to use it for water marbeling.  When used to paint, it is actually good to go in one coat.

Triple Shine Water Melon

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Water Melon is a jelly polish that is very sheer on its own.  I like to use it for watercolor looks the most.  There is another one of these coming up.  Of the two, this is more pink.

Megalast Tropicalia

Tropicalia is the perfect name for this Wet n Wild Megalast polish.  It is a tropical, summery color.  It has a really wide brush that I am not such a fan of, but other than that, it is easy to work with.

Megalast Sophisticated Lady

This next polish is also a Wet n Wild Megalast, and is called Sophisticated Lady.  It is a metallic pastel.  It can be very pretty, but it is hard to get it applied without lots of streaking.  In addition, it has that wide brush that isn’t my favorite.

Miracle Gel Pretty Piggy

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Pretty Piggy is your basic pink.  These miracle gel polishes really do have that glossy gel finish and are very easy to apply.  Two coats of the color and one of the special top coat and you are good to go for at least a week.

Triple Shine Jell-ous?

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Jell-ous? is a sheer jelly polish that is pinkish-purple.  Again, these are great for watercolor nails, but can be pretty on their own or topping off other colors.

Fresh Paint Guava

This polish is borderline neon, but is absolutely gorgeous!  I love, love, love it!  It is Fresh Paint Guava.  It can look bright or calm, and is wonderful to bring a bright spot to any mani.  (It also looks great on toes.)  Two coats and you’ll look great!

Sparitual Improvisation

Sparitual Improvisation is a sheer polish that either needs to be worn that way or use many coats to get opaque.  It is interesting when it catches the light because of the way that sparkles.  There are pink and blue glitters in it that make it ver unique and a fun addition to any look.

Color Club Cloud Nine

This is the second of three holographic polishes that fall in the pink pile.  This one has a nice pink hue to it when the light isn’t on it.  But, like the other Color Club beauties, once it catches the light, look out!

Color Club Cherubic

Color Club Cherubic has a more neutral tone to it when the holo isn’t shining like mad.  This one works really well for stamping and adds a lot of spice to stamped looks.

Glosstini Bahama Mama

Covergirl Outlast Glosstini Bahama Mama is that perfect beachy color.  It is a summery coral color with silver sparkles.  You do need two-three coats for it to be solid.  I wish that I had this color in a larger bottle, since painting with the teeny square top is a little awkward.

Sally Girl Cool

Sally Girl Cool is a perfect neon pink.  You need about three coats on its own, or you can paint it over white and it pops a lot quicker.  If you are experimenting with neons, these Sally Girl polishes are great.

Funky Fingers Riptide

Funky Fingers Riptide is a sheer, barely pink, glitter polish.  It is a little thick, but isn’t a problem to work with.  In addition, this is a color changing polish!  (And it really does work!)  Indoors, it is the sheer, barely there mani, but outdoors it turns sort of brown.  It is fun to wear anytime you will be able to admire it in the sun.

Ulta Diva

Ulta Diva is just barely tinted pink.  It is a glitter polish that works better as a topper than anything else.  Since it is so sheer, you can pair it with anything.  The glitters are tiny and iridescent, and make for a nice eye catcher.

Sinful Colors TimbleberryAnd finally, Sinful Colors Timbleberry.  I haven’t had the best of luck with this polish.  It is very runny and makes it easy to fudge.  Other than that, the color is lovely, so I think that is why I don’t pitch it.  I keep thinking I can make it happen.  🙂

WHOA!  That was a lot.  Thanks for reading!  Do you have any faves?

Black and Blue

Matte Top Coat

Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat                                   Zoya Pixie Dust Sunshine                                             Wet n Wild Kaleidoscope                                           Sinful Colors Starry Night

Black and Blue Polish

This is one of those paint jobs that I am neutral about.  It worked.  I used the Zoya for most of my nails, and the Sinful Colors for the accent.  I didn’t feel like the glitter in the Sinful Colors was standing out as much as I wanted it to, so I threw the Wet n Wild over the top of it.

Zoya Pixie Dust Sunshine

The Zoya goes on completely with one coat, which is great.  It dries with textured, almost matte finish on its own.

Sinful Colors Starry Night

The Sinful Colors needed three coats to be opaque.  It does have little holographic glitters in it, but I was just looking for more bling.

Wet n Wild Kaleidoscope

That’s where this guy came in.  I love this polish for that added touch of shine.  It coats on the glitter evenly and with the more coats, the more shine.

Since the Pixie Dust was already a bit matte, I thought I would top it all off with the matte top coat.  Obviously the Zoya was more matte than the Sinful Colors, but I was very happy with how the glitter still showed up.

Also, I was inspired to try some denim nails in the future, because the look of the Zoya with the matte finish looked very denim to me.
