New Job!

Black and Gold Nail Polish

So, this summer has been full of ups and downs, and super inconsistent posting.  But, I am proud to announce a shift in my career.  Last Friday I was hired, started on Monday, and I feel it is going to be a really positive move in my life.  Because of the time crunch and the hard work, a simple paint job for my nails was necessary.  I decided to go with the colors of the new school I am at, with some black and gold.

Sally Hansen

These were the only two polishes needed for this simple, shiny mani.  I began with two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Golden-I on all of my nails.  This is the most beautiful gold polish I have ever used!  It goes on easily and is very metallic.  Then, to get the black (and a touch of white) on there, I topped off my nails with Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Clearly Spotted.  This is another fave of mine.  It’s hard to tell in the pic, but the bottle is half empty, and when it is all gone, I will be sad.

The finished product was fast and I liked it.  It was a good way to sport some new school spirit on the job for the first week, too.

Nothing to Lose

I typically do my nails in the evening, since that is the only time I have.  It works out, because then they can cure overnight and I can go about my business.  My intention this weekend was to start with a lovely pale blue and do some stamping over it.  (We all know for stamping, you need those nails to be dry.)  But ugh!  When I woke up this morning I realized that I went to bed with my nails a bit too wet because they were full of these creases and indents from the blankets.

Tacky Polish

I went from having this nice smooth finish to this.  I didn’t want to stamp over it, so I figured I had nothing to lose.  Since it was already a mess, why not try something more “daring” than I normally would?  Worst case…take it off and start over.

Zoya and Sinful Colors

The blue polish that I used was Zoya Rebel.  It took two coats to be opaque.  It is a light blue polish with a silvery gold shimmer.    Then, I decided to top off the messed up blue coat with Sinful Colors Love Sprinkles.  I did not put on any of the hearts.  I only wanted the white and pink polka dots.

Nail Art Wheel

Next, the part where I went a little wild.  🙂  I have this random nail art wheel that I dug little flowers out of.  I wasn’t particular about colors.  I just thought with things finally starting to sprout for spring, the baby blue and pink dots would be springy with multiple colors of flowers.

And that is what I ended up with!  Some 3D nail art that is colorful and fun.  I am not sure how practical it is or how long it will stay on my nails, but for now it’s fun to be blinged out.  And, with so much going visually, those creases are a thing of the past.

How have you fixed blunders?

Easter Spots

Easter Nail Art

Tomorrow is Easter, so I did my nails in some fun spring colors.  Please excuse and remaining sloppy edges, since I wanted to get some pics in the daylight.  🙂

Pastel Polish

I did each nail in a different spring shade.  From left to right I used: Sally Girl Simple, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Breezy Blue, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Tickled Pink, and Fresh Paint Honeydew.  Since all of these are light colors, I needed about three coats of each to feel good about them.

Polka Dots

I topped off all of the nails with a coat of Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Clearly Spotted.  This polish is made of of different sizes of black and white dots, and I wish I had another bottle, because I can’t find it anywhere now.

Robin Egg Nails

I thought these colors looked really fun together, and they will make a cute look for Easter.  The remind of me the Robin Egg candies.
