Under Five Bucks…Suh-weet!

eBay Shopping Spree

Do you ever get the urge to spend money, but know you really shouldn’t?  I had that feeling one night, when I couldn’t sleep, so I hit eBay.  Not one particular seller to brag on, just excellent prices and finds!  Seriously, I got all of this stuff for less than five dollars and free shipping!

Nail Art Wheels

I got eight new wheels full of stuff.

I also snagged up these nail art magnets.  I have’t tried them yet to know how well they work, but the idea of them and the price made them worth a go.

Magnets for Nail Polish

Finally, I went bonkers on water decals.  I love using them!  When I found them for under ten cents, even Disney princess ones, I lost my mind!  (And let me tell you, I still have some on the watch list….I did show some self restraint.)

In closing, I would completely recommend eBay as a shopping source for nail art stuff.  Especially if you really don’t want to spend money (or shouldn’t spend money) it lets you feel like you got a bunch of stuff for nothing!

Thanks for reading!  I have some nail stuff to try!

Neutral Polishes

The Browns

Brown Nail Polish

The Browns

“The Browns” seemed like the most appropriate title, instead of saying the browns, coppers, neutrals, and other tannish shades.

Orly Rage

Orly Rage is a metallic version of a neutral.  It goes on smoothly and needs about two coats to be solid.  It reflects light in an amazing way, but not in an overwhelming, not really neutral way.  I only have it in a mini size, but if you find it out there in a large, I would grab it.

Complete Salon Manicure Cinnamon

I have two Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes that are practically identical.  To try to justify this, I will say that I got them both at the bargain bin for pennies and in reality, they look a lot different painted on than in the pictures.  At any rate, this one is Cinnamon.  This is a dark creme polish that is simply brown.  For lots of fall looks, this is perfect!  It also goes on really smoothly, so it is lovely to use.

Complete Salon Manicure Copper Penny

This glitter polish is one of my favorites, and I wish a picture could capture its beauty.  Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Copper Penny is made up of different sizes of circle glitter pieces that look exactly like a brand new penny.  The pieces spread evenly and apply smoothly, so this makes it a glitter polish that is actually nice to use.  I like it a lot in autumn, but it can be used to shine up lots of looks.

OPI Gaining Mole-Mentum

Again, pictures!   Why can’t I capture the real glory!?!  OPI Gaining Mole-Mentum is a flaky glitter polish that has gold, silver, and copper flakes.  It goes on fairly easily, with minimal pushing and shoving needed to make it even.  This is another go to in the fall, but the variety of colors in the flakes makes it very versatile.

Insta Dri Moracc-go

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Moracc-go is the exact same shade as a terra cotta pot.  It is basically opaque in one coat.  I picked this one up specifically for stamping in the fall, but have used it a couple of other times.  Insta Dri polishes work really nicely for stamping, if you are looking for alternatives to actual stamping polishes.

Complete Salon Manicure Branch Out

Here is the other Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure that I was talking about.  This one is Branch Out.  It is a little lighter, and has a tinge of copper sparkle to it.  It is a gorgeous polish to use on its own and for accents.  It goes on smoothly and two coats will cover you.

Sally Hansen Insta Dri Quick Sand

Sally Hansen Insta Dri Quick Sand is a neutral polish with silver sparkle.  One coat could work with this one, but two is best.  The sparkle gives it a nice kick out of the ordinary neutral nail.

Magnetic Kinetic Copper

I think the magnetic polishes are really cool, and this one is my favorite.  Sally Hansen Magnetic Kinetic Copper is truly copper colored.  You apply one coat, let it dry, then while the second coat is wet you hover the magnet over it.  It makes it swirl into light and dark curls that are to die for!  It is an easy manicure that looks like it was difficult and time consuming and will get you lots of compliments!

Revlon Parfumerie Autumn Spice

Revlon Parfumerie Autumn Spice is a dark brown that shimmers gold, rose, and maybe even a hint of green.  It is the perfect fall polish.  It does need about three coats to be completely opaque.  As far as the scent…yes, it really does smell, and the smell is very autumn.

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Copperhead

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Copperhead is copper polish that shines green.  In two coats it will be ready to wear.  The only thing that I am not a big fan of with this polish is the streaky look it tends to get…but a lot of polishes like this, with multiple shades, can seem to do that easily.

Piggy Polish Sand it Over

Finally, Piggy Polish Sand It Over is a neutral shade that leans toward the orange/yellow end of the spectrum.  It says “goes on toes” but I use it anywhere.  Like any neutral polish, it is easy to slap on when you aren’t sure what the week is going to hold.

Thanks for reading all about my browns!  Do you have any faves?

Purple Nail Polish

The Purples

We are finally at the end of the traditional rainbow.  After this, it’s on to the pinks, whites, silvers…you get the idea.  So, let’s get to it.

Sally Girl SimpleSally Girl Simple is a pastel purple.  I picked it up for ten cents! I use it for Easter accents, and things like that.

Miracle Gel Hunger FlamesSally Hansen Miracle Gel Hunger Flames is more fuchsia than this picture shows.  It does have a beautiful shine to it, and if you want nails that will make a statement, this polish will certainly do that.

OPI Just Busta MauveI wonder what the deal is with all these dark shots?  I must have thought it was okay at the time.  Anyway…moving on…the next one is OPI Nicole Just Busta Mauve.  This is a glitter polish that actually paints on pretty opaquely.  With purple and blue glitter, it catches the light and is very versatile.

OPI I Sing in ColorYou might be thinking that this looks brown or red, but I can guarantee you (from the spot I have on my carpet) that it is purple, just a very deep purple.  It is OPI I Sing in Color.  If you want drama, this will bring it.  You need two-three coats, but it is worth it.

Salon Manicure I Lilac YouThis pale pastel is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure I Lilac You.  It goes on surprisingly solid for such a pale color, and for any delicate look it is a beauty.

LA Colors Nuclear EnergyLA Colors Color Craze Nuclear Energy is a basic purple that leans toward being a neon purple.  It is a bright shade, but not shocking, so it can be worn with all kinds of looks.  You do need quite a few coats to get it opaque.

Satin Glam Taffeta

Sally Hansen Satin Glam Taffeta has just a hint of sparkle in it, but dries to a lovely satin finish.  Two coats will get you completely covered with this one.

Xtreme Wear

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Violet Voltage is one I like to use for water marbeling.  It is honestly not one I have used for a full on manicure yet.  I guess I haven’t had that perfect idea for it.

Xtreme Wear Pep-PlumThis is another one that works well for water marbeling.  Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pep-Plum is a bright shade of purple.  I have a set of microbeads that match it really well too, so that is always a fun combo.

Xtreme Wear Pink SatinThis one I struggled with, trying to decide if it was more in the pink or purple category.  In the end I clearly chose purple.  It is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pink Satin.  It is a metallic purple that really catches the eye.

Magnetic Red-y ResponseI love, love, love this polish.  Sally Hansen Magentic Red-y Response.  The way it swirls with the magnet, to bring out light and dark shades (almost black) is gorgeous.  I usually lay down one coat, then on the second I use the magnet.  I have never been disappointed with this polish.

Xtreme Wear Deep PurpleSally Hansen Xtreme Wear Deep Purple is just that, a deep purple.  It has a teeny metallic sheen and goes on pretty well with just one coat.

Triple Shine Grape JellySally Hansen Triple Shine Grape Jelly is an ultra sheer purple jelly polish.  I like it for watercolor looks and to add a touch of purple to other looks.

Essie She's Picture PerfectThis pale purple is Essie She’s Picture Perfect.  You can see a bit in the picture that it is a pastel purple, but the shine is bolder.  This one does need a few coats to be solid, but other than that, it is fairly easy to work with.

Sally Girl XOXOSally Girl XOXO is definitely in the neon category.  I use this one a lot paired with black, or other neons.  It adds spice to any look.

And those are my purple polishes!  Thanks for reading!!!

Blue Polish 2

The Blues

Whoa!  Someone has the blues!  I had to split it up into two groups just to be able to stage all of the bottle and swatch pics.  I am a little disappointed with the lighting, but I think as we travel through the blues together, you’ll get a better view of them.  Enjoy! Magnetic Ionic IndigoSally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color Ionic Indigo is a fun one!  I actually like the magnetic polishes, because with very little effort, you have a unique look on every nail.  This goes on smoothly and I like the dark and light colors that come out when you use the magnet.  On a side note, I have never tried any of the other magnets you can buy that are supposed to make other patterns.  Have any of you tried them?  Do they make that much of a difference? Wet n Wild Up in the AirWet n Wild Megalast Up in the Air is a very sheer blue glitter polish.  With enough coats, you can get a blue tint, but I typically use it as a topper.  The glitter is that nice iridescent kind that adds a subtle flair to lots of looks. Color Show Blue BeatsThis matte glitter polish is a stunner!  Maybelline Color Show Street Art Blue Beats has different sizes of matte black and neon blue glitter pieces.  The pieces are dots, hexes, and lines that work together to form this great topper for eye catching looks.  It goes on easily and evenly and gives that dramatic pop you are looking for! Formula X BoomSephora Formula X Boom is another topper that I really enjoy using.  It is full of multiple sizes of hex glitters that have a pearly sheen.  This is really easy to spread out evenly and is such a versatile color for all kinds of looks. Salon Manicure Jungle Gem I really wish I could capture this color in the picture.  Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Jungle Gem is a gorgeous deep blue with a tinge of teal to it.  It is really an elegant, deep color that works for lots of holiday and winter looks. Miracle Gel CombustealbleSally Hansen Miracle Gel Combustealble is a blue-teal polish that shimmers with a purple glow.  It’s really unique and catches people’s eyes.  It goes on practically opaque in one coat, but two is guaranteed.  Used with the proper top coat, it wears like iron. Ciate Ferris WheelCiate Ferris Wheel is a very pale blue that is cute for looks year round.  It does need about three coats to be opaque, but goes on smoothly, so streakiness isn’t a problem.  This one came as a gift in the mail with some nail art stuff…bonus! Glosstini Blue HawaiianWhile the bottle looks a little fuzzy, the swatch looks just like the color.  Covergirl Outlast Glosstini Blue Hawaiian is like if you could mix neon blue, baby blue, and grey.  Weird description, I know…but it isn’t any certain type of blue specifically.  I actually like this one a lot for accent nails. LA Colors In a FlashLA Colors Color Craze In a Flash is a basic/neon blue.  It is pretty sheer, so you need a few coats to get it to be opaque.  Depending on what you wear it with will determine if it looks more primary or neon. Xtreme Wear Blue Me AwayThis is a ver bright blue, that leans toward neon.  Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Blue Me Away goes on easily and is opaque in one coat.  It does stain though, so ALWAYS use a base coat (if you don’t already).  I like this a lot for water marbeling, but then the whole skin staining is a thing.  Oh well.  🙂 Crackle Wave BreakSally Hansen Crackle Overcoat Wave Break is one that I don’t use too often.  It’s great, it crackles nicely, easy to apply, and so on…I just never really got into the crackle look.  I do like that this one is so sheer.  It is less obvious, and with a little sparkle it just adds a nice touch. Xtreme Wear Breezy BlueSally Hansen Xtreme Wear Breezy Blue reminds me of a robin’s egg.  It dries with a bit of a pearly finish and is such a beautiful color in the spring.  (Though I have worn it for winter and summer looks as well.)  It needs two to three coats to be opaque.  I like to top it with a black and white polka dot polish and it makes this simple, yet stunning look. Xtreme Wear SplashThis blue and white speckled jelly polish makes a cute topper on lots of colors.  It is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Splash.  With the variety of blues and the little bit of white, this is a versatile polish.  It can be a little hard to spread the pieces evenly, but I have found that it can take a little shoving around without any damage to the overall finished look. Xtreme Wear Pacific BlueSally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue is a pretty, basic blue.  It is not a jelly polish, but seems to have more of that feel than just a cream.  It does take about three coats to be opaque.  It goes on easily and is great for all kinds of patriotic looks. Color Club Blue HeavenThis gorgeous blue based, holographic polish is by Color Club and is called Blue Heaven.  When the light catches it, you cannot take your eyes off of it.  It shines so many beautiful colors!  When it is not catching all of that light, it is a shiny, kind of metallic pale blue.  Either way, it is wonderful!  One coat works, but two is best for this one. Wet n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint I Need a Refesh-Mint by Wet n Wild is a summery, wear it to the beach, blue.  It is totally opaque in two coats.  I have a love/hate relationship with the wide brush in this bottle.  Sometimes I feel like it makes painting easier, and other times I feel like I just slop paint everywhere.

OPI Dining Al FriscoThis polish with hints of silver and little blue sparkles is a subtle showstopper.  OPI Dining Al Frisco goes on easily in two coats and gives a great pop to any set of nails.

Broadway Nails Space FlightBroadway Nails Space Flight is a steal!  You can pick up Broadway Nails at Dollar General stores for $1.  This is a jelly polish, that on its own is kind of dark.  When I paint it on top of white, it is a vibrant blue!  Either way, it is easy to use and too good of a deal not to try.

Complete Salon Manicure Batbano BlueSally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Batbano Blue is a bright, primary blue with a blue, pearly shine.  It goes on nicely in one-two coats.

Zoya SunshineZoya Pixie Dust Sunshine is a textured polish that dries a little matte.  It has silver glitter in it that adds some spice.  It reminds me of denim when it is dry.  This polish goes on evenly and is opaque in one coat, which is a total bonus!

HD SpectrumSally Hansen HD Spectrum needs two-three coats to be opaque, but with the shine of it, you can get by with less.  At first glance, it is a teal/blue, but it shines purple.  This is a gorgeous color, especially in the summer sun.

Diamond Strength Something BlueIf you are looking for a shiny, sheer topper with a tint, this is it.  Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Something Blue can be painted on to be a sheer beauty or in multiple coats to be darker.  While it is barely blue in the base, there are light blue glitter pieces in it that catch the light.

Essie Blue RhapsodyEssie Blue Rhapsody reminds me of a cloudy day on the water.  It is a gray-blue polish that is really beautiful.  It takes two-three coats to be solid.

Color Show Emerald CityI could not capture this one in a picture the way I wanted to.  Just trust me on the shine and glory of it.  Maybelline Color Show Emerald City is a blue/teal and holographic glitter topper that shines like there is no tomorrow!  The colored glitters are just little circle pieces, while the holographic ones are hex and diamond shaped.

Triple Shine Ice TintSally Hansen Triple Shine Ice Tint is a sheer jelly polish.  I like to use it mainly for watercolor looks, but it can be painted on to just be a sheer blue on its own.

And those are my blues.  Thanks for reading!
