Under Five Bucks…Suh-weet!

eBay Shopping Spree

Do you ever get the urge to spend money, but know you really shouldn’t?  I had that feeling one night, when I couldn’t sleep, so I hit eBay.  Not one particular seller to brag on, just excellent prices and finds!  Seriously, I got all of this stuff for less than five dollars and free shipping!

Nail Art Wheels

I got eight new wheels full of stuff.

Pearl Nail Art

Pearls with Golden Outline

Neon Nail Studs

Neon Star, Circle, Rectangle, and Triangle Nail Studs

Beach Nail Art

Gold and Silver Beach Accessories

Dried Flower Nail Art

Dried Flowers

Nail Rhinestones

Metallic Sheen Rhinestones

Pearl Nail Art

Pearls and Iridescent Brown and White Gems

I also snagged up these nail art magnets.  I have’t tried them yet to know how well they work, but the idea of them and the price made them worth a go.

Magnets for Nail Polish

Finally, I went bonkers on water decals.  I love using them!  When I found them for under ten cents, even Disney princess ones, I lost my mind!  (And let me tell you, I still have some on the watch list….I did show some self restraint.)

Water Decal Nail Art

Waterslide Nail Decal

Disney Nail Art

Nail Tattoos

In closing, I would completely recommend eBay as a shopping source for nail art stuff.  Especially if you really don’t want to spend money (or shouldn’t spend money) it lets you feel like you got a bunch of stuff for nothing!

Thanks for reading!  I have some nail stuff to try!

Amazon Haul Part Three

Amazon Haul 3

Here is the third installment of my Amazon haul.  I love getting something in the mail that isn’t a bill or junk, and when it is from my Amazon frenzy a couple weeks ago, I love it even more!

First, I got my clear rhinestones.

Clear Rhinestones

I use my clear stones more than any others, and I found these for 69 cents, free shipping.  The reviews on them were mixed, but I wasn’t expecting Swarovski for that price.  I am pleased with them.  They came in ovals, kidney bean shape, rectangles, stars, teardrops, flowers, hearts, large circles, squares, bent teardrops, hearts, and small circles.  There are lots in each compartment, and they will be great for all kinds of designs.

Second, I got my neon studs.

Neon StudsThere are circles and squares in each of the six colors.  The colors are very vibrant in person, so don’t let the picture fool you.  These are very thin, so I think they will be great for nail art that I want to stay, because they won’t be jutting out really far from my nails.

Last, the crushed shells.

Crushed Shells

Clearly, there are lots of color options here, between pastel and bold.  The pieces are nice and small, but not glitter.  They all have a very beautiful iridescent sheen.  To top it off, compared to name brand kits that run about $20, and you only get one color, I got 12 colors for about $3.

Have you used shells in any manis?  Any tips before I go for it?

Thanks!  Ta-Ta!

Sally Hansen Clearance Palooza

If I had to claim a certain brand as a favorite polish, I would claim Sally Hansen.  I have never had trouble with Sally products, and at full price, they are still very affordable.   AND, if you are willing to be a little behind on the latest trend, they go on clearance all the time.  Yesterday I scooped up 17 new Sally polishes for under $9.  SCORE!

IMG_1763First, I grabbed the Sally Hansen Triple Shine Jellies.  From left to right I have:  Water Melon, Sea Through, Vitamin D-light, Grape Jelly, Jell-ous?, and Ice Tint.  I think these have a lot of potential.  They are not extremely tinted, but I think that could make them more versatile.  I used them late last night to make my watercolor manicure.

Watercolor Manicure

Next, I found four new shades for me from the Xtreme Wear line.

IMG_1765

From left to right:  Gunmetal, Grey Area, Pacific Blue, and Violet Voltage.  I actually had nail stamping in mind when I snagged these.  They will be good colors for manis too.

Third, I found four colors from the Complete Salon Manicure line.

IMG_1766

Left to right:  I Lilac You, Batbano Blue, Copper Penny, and Earl Gray.  This picture is not doing Copper Penny any justice.  I am really excited to use it for some fall manis, adding that spark of glitter.  It truly does look like shiny penny pieces.

Finally, I bought one from the Insta Dri line and two from the Satin Glam.

IMG_1767

Left to right:  Moracc-go, Chic Pink, and Taffeta.  The Insta Dri I got for autumn, and the others were just cute.  (For the price, that was a good enough reason.)

I was really happy with my finds.  I have plans in mind for some, while others I just took home because I liked the color.  The jellies are pretty new to me.  The only other jelly polishes I have are ones with glitter in them.  I am looking forward to experimenting with them.

Do you love to find a bargain?  Do you already have these shades?  What do you do with them?

Thanks for stopping by!

Amazon Haul Part Two

IMG_1742

I got a couple more things, so I figured I would update my Amazon Haul.  I received my Konad stamper and scraper, dried flowers, dotting tools, and brushes.

First, the stamper and scraper.

IMG_1749

I seriously doubt that I ever use the scraper.  I have never understood the whole metal scraper on metal plates thing.  I use an old gift card to scrape the polish off.  I like the two sizes on the stamper, so placing images that are smaller or whole nail are easier.  And, after a few sample stamps, I have decided that even if you don’t want to spend the money on Konad plates, the stamper is worth it.

Next, the dried flowers.

IMG_1748

For the same reason as the other dried flowers, I got these because I wanted something more colorful than how mine dry from my garden.  These are just five petal flowers, where the others were very, very tiny.  The colors are much more fabulous than the picture shows.  In addition, this was supposed to be a 36 piece set, with three of every color.  There are easily five flowers in each slot!  BONUS!  I haven’t tried them on my nails yet, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t be terrific.

Third, the dotting tools.

IMG_1750

The dotting tools and brushes actually came together in one set.  They are going to be fine to use.  They seem like a decent quality, and are easy to hold on to.  My only complaint with these is that five of the heads are the same size, and five are different.  So, instead of the advertised ten heads, it’s more like six.

Finally, the brushes.

IMG_1751

There are fourteen brushes and one dotting tool.  There are striping brushes, and ones with squared off heads.  With these, patterns, designs, and clean up will be a breeze.  I think for the dotting tools and brushes together, it was about $4.  At that price, these cannot be beat!

Do you buy nail stuff on Amazon?  Any must haves?  I’ll keep you posted when the rest of my haul comes in!

Amazon Holo Haul

I have tried to find the perfect holographic nail polish for a while.  In stores around me, there just wasn’t anything good.  It would be more chrome than anything.

Then, on Pinterest, I saw a Chanel holographic polish!  OH.  MY.  WORD.

Chanel Holo

Not my nails. Taken from Pinterest.

Turns out this whole holo craze is not so current.  And when I found any of this Chanel polish, the price was not an option.

Now that I knew that the perfect holo existed, I looked online for it.  This is also how I discovered Color Club.  This brand is not sold in stores near me, but they have the most beautiful holographic nail polishes!!!

I ordered some of them.  I couldn’t resist!

I got:

Harp On It, Angel Kiss, Cloud Nine, Cherubic, Halo-Graphic, Beyond, and Blue Heaven.  I tried to get a shot of them in the sun.

IMG_1700

I slapped some on my nails, and tried to get some pics of them shining.  The sun is a little here and there today.

Without the light, these are just nice shades of polish.  IMG_1704

In the sun, they are so mesmerizing,  I am not sure I should wear them any time I am operating heavy machinery.  IMG_1706 IMG_1707

IMG_1708 IMG_1709 IMG_1710

I hope that you are able to see some of the shining glory!  It’s not that easy to catch in an iPhone photo shoot.  🙂

I am loving these!  I don’t care if it was a craze two years ago.  I love it now!

I have already tried to stamp with them, and they work great with the plates.  Here’s a quick shot of a stamp on a bare nail.

IMG_1713

The possibilities are endless!  Do you use holo polish?  Do you love it?  Do you care if you are behind on a trend?  Let me know what you think!

Toodles!

Amazon Haul Part One

Okay folks.  I admit, that I am not a big online shopper, but the Amazon bug bit me.  I found all kinds of deals, free shipping, add ons, and what not, and I couldn’t resist.  I wanted to boost my nail art collection, but doing it through a beauty supply store is pricey!  And since I only do this for me, I couldn’t justify spending that kind of cash on a hobby.  That’s where Amazon came in.  You can get all kinds of stuff on there for pennies.  Not all of it is American made, though, so if that is a big thing for you, you will pay a little more.  (Still less than a beauty supply store.)

Have I rambled enough yet?

Here is what I have gotten so far.  (I apologize for the picture quality.)

DRIED FLOWERS

Dried Flowers

Dried Flowers

These are some dried flowers that I ordered.  I have dried my own flowers from home and used them in my nail art, but I wanted some really vibrant colors.

IMG_1659

IMG_1660  I hope you can see these.  They are just teeny flowers.  You cut off the pieces you want to use and attach them to polish that is still a little wet.

FIMO SLICES

IMG_1663  I really enjoy using fimo slices now and then.  I think they are a nice pop of color and variety.  This set did not disappoint.  It is from Cheeky Beauty. I got ten wheels filled with all sorts of images.

*Note:  This set is a little flower heavy, but that was my choice.  IMG_1664IMG_1665  I tried to get a little closer so you could see that the pictures are easy to make out and very bright.  (The lighting just isn’t working for me!)

FIMO FLOP

IMG_1666

This wheel was NOT part of the set above.  I ordered this separately, because in the Amazon pic, it was full of bright, recognizable fruits.  That is not the case in reality.  These are strange colored, fairly unrecognizable things.  I will be able to use some, but overall, I was not impressed with this set.

PLATE STORAGE

IMG_1667 IMG_1668

This is a nice little carrier for nail stamping plates from Pueen.  It reminds me of a little CD case.  You just slide your plates in and there is no more worry about scratches.  I also like that I can see all of the images without having to finger each and every plate…just turn the page.

NAIL STAMPING PLATES

IMG_1669 IMG_1670 IMG_1671

I got two sets of stamping plates.  The Pueen set came in a storage case, while the Mash set came individually packaged.  Obviously, I have yet to dive into these and do some tests.  (I will post when I do.)  At first glance, I am super happy with them.  The images have lots of variety and potential for creativity.  I can’t wait to get started with them!

The last thing that came was some loose glitter.  I didn’t feel a big need to post about it though.  It’s glitter.

If you have questions or comments, I would love to know!  Look for coming posts as things arrive and I test them out!

Thanks for reading!  Ta-ta!
