I have a collection of polishes that I am really happy with, and I am going to share them with you, one color grouping at a time. I will begin with the reds. Not all of the polishes were easily categorized, and there are tons of different ways to categorize them. I went with color grouping, and did it the best I could decide.
I will begin with my FAVORITE red polish. It is Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear Pucker Up. It is the PERFECT red. It is bright, not hinting at pink in any way, just flaming red. (Red is my favorite color, so finding this and saying it is perfect, really does mean something.)
The order from here on doesn’t really hold any meaning. I like all of them, and wear them pretty equally.
Next is Ciate Espadrilles. It takes a few coats to get the full red effect, and looks a teeny bit pink in the swatch. I actually like this one for the fall, because it has a nice golden shimmer to it.
Russian Roulette by Essie is a nice, bright red. It takes about three coats to get to the opaque red color. I don’t own a lot of Essie polish, but overall, I am not too impressed with the colors. I feel like it takes a lot of coats to get there.
Miracle Gel Red Eye is close to being a favorite red polish. It is a nice vibrant red, and with the special top coat, does last for quite a while. Needing the special top coat is what takes it out of first place, because it isn’t just a polish you can throw on and cover with anything.
I keep this polish on hand because it is beautiful for a couple days of wear. Sally Hansen Gem Crush Cha-Ching is thick, and easy to chip. For the holidays though, it adds a nice pop.
Broadway Nails polish can be found at the Dollar General, and some are real hits, while others are kinda icky. But, I think this one is a hit! It is Broadway Nails Hot and Sexy. It seems like it has a pinkish hue in the swatch, but a couple of coats of this, and it looks pretty red. I will say that it rubs off easily though. Bump up against a wall, papers, whatever, and you’ll probably leave a streak…even with a top coat.
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Fiesta is a jelly polish, and takes a little bit of work to evenly spread out all of the pieces. It makes a nice topper to other polishes, and it even looks cute on its own, if you want a low maintenance mani.
This deep, sexy red, Revlon Colorstay Velvet Rope, is a beautiful polish. It is a rich color, that doesn’t get too dark. (In other words, you can still tell it is red…it doesn’t look brown or black once it is painted on.)
These teeny little polishes pack a lot of punch. Covergirl Glosstini Rogue Red only takes two coats to get the full color, and has a really fiery look to it when it catches the light. There are flashes of orange and yellow that make you just want to stare at it.
Sally Girl polishes are a nice way to get a little sample of something without going out and buying a whole bottle of something that might just be a fad for yourself. This one doesn’t actually have a name on the bottle, but it is a burgundy polish with a golden sheen.
And those are my red polishes. Do you have any of these? Do they make your favorite list? Any that I am missing that I should look for?
